WHO WE ARE
A few years ago, major stakeholders in the Memphis Medical Center engaged architects Looney Ricks Kiss to update a master plan for this key part of the City of Memphis. Picking up where a 2001 Center City Commission master plan left off several years before, the new effort was sparked by many changing factors, including the announcement of the UT - Baptist Research Park being developed by the Memphis Bioworks Foundation on the former Baptist Hospital site in the heart of the Medical Center.
This $450 million project served as a catalyst to bring the community together with a common goal of revitalizing the Memphis Medical Center.
At first known as the Central Biomedical District, the project seeks to create a sense of place by addressing the common concerns — zoning, security, streets and sidewalks and other important infrastructures, economic development factors, transportation, housing, parks, even signage.
Our overall mission: to pursue the priorities outlined in the master plan so that the Memphis Medical Center can become a place where education, innovative research, development and clinical care matters each day, is attractive to both business and new talent from across the country and is a safe and nurturing place for health and healthy living.
That's who we are.
